Abstract
Elderly a class of groups that are vulnerable to a variety of things, especially food. physiological changes in the elderly can lead to difficult to digest food properly, causing many leftovers. Factors affecting the rest of the food such that the appearance of the food. the amount of food it can cause nutritional needs of elderly is not fulfilled. Nutritional needs of elderly indispensable as one of the benchmarks increase in health development in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship of the appearance of the food with the rest of the food and the level of satisfaction of the elderly. This study was conducted in December 2016 in Elderly Care Unit Jember. This research method is observational method with cross sectional approach with a population of 150 elderly. Respondents in this study were 40 elderly with Sampling Systematic sampling technique. The instumens used are kuisioner the appearance of food, kuisioner of food waste and form of comstock. Statistical analysis using SPSS 16.0 by using test Somers'd. In this study, no significant correlation between the overall appearance of the food with leftovers p = 0.000 and r = 0.461, and there was a significant correlation between the appearance of the food to the level of satisfaction p = 0.001 and r = 0.408. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between the appearance of the food with the rest of the food and level of satisfaction.
