Abstract
This study aims to study the effect of Lactobacillus sp and Bacillus sp probiotic supplementation on the macroscopic quality of free-range chicken sperm which includes volume, pH, and color in heat stress conditions. The research was carried out at the Feed Technology Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry and chicken coop of the Academic Support Unit (UPA) of the Jember State Polytechnic. The research method used a Complete Random Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 8 replicates. The treatment consisted of P0 control without probiotics, P1 supplementation (1%) Bacillus sp, P2 supplementation (1%) Lactobacillus sp, and P3 supplementation (1%) combination of Lactobacillus sp and Bacillus sp. The observed parameters included sperm volume, pH, and color. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), then followed by the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) test if there were significant differences. The results showed that the supplementation of probiotics Lactobacillus sp and Bacillus sp had no noticeable effect on the macroscopic quality of sperm volume, pH, and color.
