Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease due to insulin disorders or poor insulin action that is unable to transport glucose into cells, resulting in increased glucose levels. Determinants that can influence blood glucose levels are consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages, dietary fiber, and sedentary activities. This study aims to determine the relationship between consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages, dietary fiber, and sedentary activities with FBG levels in adults with type 2 diabetes in the outpatient unit of Puskesmas Ledokombo, Jember Regency. This type of research uses an analytic survey with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects used 97 subjects with purposive sampling techniques and data collection using subject identity questionnaires, SQ-FFQ, SBQ, and direct observation. Analysis using the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression tests. The results for the frequency and amount of consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and dietary fiber showed a value of p=0,032; OR=4,4 and p=0,038; OR=8,5 and a value of p=0,000; OR=22,2 and p=0,000; OR=93,6, and for sedentary activities showed a value of p=0,164; OR=2,4. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between the frequency and amount of consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and dietary fiber with FBG levels in patients with type 2 diabetes, there is no relationship between sedentary activities with FBG levels in patients with type 2 diabetes in the outpatient unit of Puskesmas Ledokombo, and the amount of consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages is the strongest factor with a value of p= 0,043; OR = 41,4.
