Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the effect of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) peel powder as a natural phytobiotic on the performance of broilers. The research method utilized a Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and four replications, employing 80 Cobb strain broilers reared for 35 days. The treatment formulations consisted of a control (P0) (100% commercial feed), P1 (99% commercial feed + 1% pomegranate peel powder), P2 (98% commercial feed + 2% pomegranate peel powder), P3 (97% commercial feed + 3% pomegranate peel powder), and P4 (96% commercial feed + 4% pomegranate peel powder). Performance parameters observed included feed consumption, body weight gain, and feed conversion ratio. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance via SPSS 25 software, and any significant differences were further analyzed using the Duncan's New Multiple Range Test. The results showed that incorporating pomegranate peel powder in the diet up to a level of 4% did not significantly affect feed consumption, which ranged from 2,783.4 g/bird to 2,874.6 g/bird. The highest body weight gain was obtained in the 1% treatment (P1) at 1,934.5 g/bird, while the lowest feed conversion ratio was observed in the 2% treatment (P2) at 1.48. Keywords: Broilers, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, body weight gain
