Abstract

Dyslipidemia is a disorder of lipid metabolism characterized by an increase in total cholesterol levels, Low Density Lipoprotein levels, triglycerides and decreased levels of High Density Lipoprotein. Treatment of dyslipidemia through non-pharmacological therapy is the administration of black soybean extract and green grass jelly leaves extract because it contains flavonoids that can reduce total cholesterol by inhibiting the action of HMG-CoA reductase. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the effectiveness of black soybean extract and green grass jelly leaves extract on total cholesterol levels in dyslipidemic white rats. This research is an experimental research with Pretest- Posttest with Control Group Design. Samples were 25 male white rats wistar strain, age 2-3 months, and body weight 150-200 grams. Samples were taken by randomisasi and divided into 5 groups, namely (K-) standard diets, (K +) high-fat diets, (P1) high-fat diets + black soybean extract 4.3 ml / 150 grams BB rats, (P2) high-fat diets + green grass jelly leaves extract 5.2 ml / 150 gram BB rats, and (P3) a high-fat diet + black soybean extract with the addition of green grass jelly leaves extract 4.8 ml / 150 gram BB rat. Total cholesterol levels were analyzed using the CHOD-PAP method. Data were analyzed statistically using the One Way Anova test and Paired t-test. One Way Anova test results before treatment(p = 0.056) and after treatment (p = 0.056). Paired t-test results showed K- (p = 0.058),K+(p=0.023),P1(p=0.001),P2(p=0,000),andP3(p=0,000). Results of One Way Anova difference in total cholesterol levels (p = 0,000). There was no significant difference in total cholesterol levels in the K-group, and there were significant differences in total cholesterol levels in the K +, P1, P2, and P3 groups. The highest decrease in total cholesterol was found in the P3 group by 39%. The conclusion is that the administration of black soybean extract and green grass jelly leaves extract can reduce total cholesterol levels but have not been able to normalize total cholesterollevels. Keywords: black soybean extract, dyslipidemia, green grass jelly leaves extract, and total cholesterol level.
