Abstract

Fast food is food available in quick time and ready to eat (Sulistijani, 2002). Fast food has a characteristic unbalanced nutrient content, which is high in calories, but very low fiber and also high fat (included cholesterol), sugar and salt. The consumption of fast food with life stress and lack of physical activity, it’s began to show effectsof characterized by increased more nutritional problems (obesity). In the long term, obesity triggers of various diseases, such as diabetes and heart coronary byHermina (in latitude, 2009). The level of nutrition knowledge each person affects the attitudes and behavior of food choices, which determines whether or not a person easy to understand the benefits of the nutrient content of the food consumed (Sediaoetama, 2002). This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes of students in health department of Politeknik Negeri Jember on the consumption of fast food. This research used descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. The research was conducted on 9 - 12 December 2014 in Health Department of Politeknik Negeri Jember. Retrieving the data using questionnaires which distributed by the researchers to the respondents. The study involved 262 respondents. Based on bivariate analysis were statistically tested Spearman Rank Correlation, test on knowledge of the behavior of the relationship values obtained ρ 0.676 (ρ> 0.05), which indicates there is no significant correlation between the two variables. In the test attitudes relation to the behavior of values obtained ρ 0,006 (ρ <0.05), which showed a significant correlation between the two variables. Spearman correlation value of 0.169 indicates that the direction of a positive correlation with the strength of sanag weak correlation (r = 0.00-.199).
