Abstract

THE EFFECT OF LIQUID BIO-ORGANIC FERTILIZER USAGE AND PLANT SPLITTING SYSTEM ON THE PRODUCTION OF HYBRID RICE PLANT Vivi Dwi Luciani Food Crop Production Technology Study Program Department of Agriculture Production ABSTRACT The escalation of population growth increases food needs every year. The high demand for rice encourages efforts to increase food production. The rise in rice production can be encouraged by improving the number of tillers. The higher the number of tillers, the greater the chance for productive tillers that eventually affect grain yield. However, the occurrence of land degradation due to dependence on chemical fertilizers and expensive hybrid rice seeds become the obstacles in it. This study aimed to support sustainable agricultural technology by applying biological fertilizer, namely Herbafarm and plant splitting. This research was conducted in Seputih Village, Mayang District, Jember, from October 2019 to February 2020. The experiment was arrange by applying a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 2 factors. The first factor was the concentration of Herbafarm Fertilizer with 4 levels i.e without herbafarm, herbafarm 5 mL.L-1, herbafarm 10 mL.L-1, and herbafarm 15 mL.L-1. The second factor was Plant Splitting with 3 levels i.e without split, 1 split, and 2 splits. The results showed that giving Herbafarm fertilizer 10 mL.L-1 had the best effect on the number of tillers (15 DAP, 30 DAP, 45 DAP), the number of productive tillers and the grain weight per plot. 1 split level gave the best results for all research data. The application of 10 ml/liter of herbafarm + 1 split plant gave the best combination on grain weight and pithy grain weight. The use of herbafarm fertilizers effectively helps suppress the use of chemical fertilizers. Simultaneously, 1 split plant is useful in saving on seed usage.
