Abstract
Learning English has already become a requirement in this era. People are required to mastery English in order to have good communication in their work place. To get the best result in learning English, many people put their children in English course to learn more about English. Because they believe that the best age for learning language is in the early age before puberty. There are many English Course in Jember that is provide many programs in learning English to fulfill the needed of the children who want to learn English. The amount of the children needed of learning English is needed to satisfy, and it makes English Course in Jember grow rapidly. One of the most famous English Course in Jember and still exist up to now is Winda’s English Course. Winda’s English Course is one of the best English Course in Jember that is provide different method in teaching and learning process by putting teachers’ position as a students’ partner also applied outdoor and indoor activities and provided homey atmosphere in order to make its students feel enjoy and comfortable during teaching and learning process. So I am getting interested to do my Internship Program in an English Course especially in Winda’s English Course 2 Jember. Winda’s English Course Jember is an official service business that runs an English Course and has a permit under the Nation Ministry of Education of East Java Regional Office since 2003. The first Winda’s English Course established at 11th January 2003 in Jl.Sriwijaya 30 Jember by Mrs. Winda Wahdaniyah. In 2010 Mrs. Winda Wahdaniyah decided to open the branch of Winda’s English Course in Jl. KH. Wachid Hasyim 38 Jember that is known as Winda’s English Course 2 Jember. In my Internship Program in Winda’s English Course 2 Jember, I have been placed in two position, those were as a staff front officer and as a teacher. During that time, I have done many activities but for writing this report I chose activities in teaching Toddler and Pre basic level (pre-school students). There were lots of activities I did in teaching the students, such as preparing the materials, handling the students in the class, managing class during teaching learning process, drilling the students for performance time such as; describing animal or describing thing in front of the class and on the stage and handling performance time. During my experiences in Winda’s English Course 2 Jember, I got the worth knowledge in teaching. Also, I faced some problems when doing this activity. One of them, I had to handle the students under 5 years old (toddler level), I had to make them always in good mood by giving adequate attention for all of them and did not ignore them because the little students easy to get bored and their mood will change into bad. I also had to arrange interesting materials for them to attract their interest of me then they will listen what I said. By those problems, I could understand that being a teacher especially for toddler and pre basic level was not easy, I had to be patient, friendly, and always in good mood in order to make the students felt comfortable with me during teaching learning process. Besides, I got a new knowledge in handling the toddler level students with different characteristic. Finally, I could conduct and finish my Internship Program for about 512 hours. In my opinion, it is important to have good behavior as the students and always ready to help the staffs. Also, this chance is useful to apply, explore, and developed my knowledge in English Course especially in teaching that I have already got in English Study Program such as; speaking and writing ( basic skills) also computer, English for correspondence, Public Speaking, Public Relation, Instructional Design and Media and Manajemen Pengelolaan Kursus (English for specific purpose). It is better to English Study Program to give the students more knowledge about English Course for more details, and more practice in teaching in front of the class.
