Abstract
This study aimed to determine the effect of Lactobacillus sp and Bacillus sp probiotic addition on the microscopic sperm quality of free-range chickens kampong chicken. The subjects used in this study were eight adult male free-range chickens. A Randomized Block Design (RBD) was employed, featuring four treatments and eight replicates. The treatments were: P0 (feed control), P1 (feed + 1% Bacillus sp probiotic), P2 (feed + 1% Lactobacillus sp probiotic), and P3 (feed + 1% combination of Bacillus sp and Lactobacillus sp probiotics). The parameters observed were microscopic sperm quality—specifically sperm concentration, viability, and abnormality. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), if significant differences were found, Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was performed using SPSS software. The results indicated that supplementation with Lactobacillus Sp. and Bacillus Sp. probiotics did not have a significant effect (P>0.05) on sperm concentration, viability, or abnormality in free-range chickens. However, the results showed that treatment P2 yielded the highest mean values for the observed parameters. Keywords : Male Free Range Chicken, Probiotics, Chicken Semen, Microscopic Semen Quality
