Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the effect of okra fruit flour as a feed ingredient on the production performance of laying quails and to evaluate business feasibility through economic analysis. The research was carried out at the quail breeding facility of Jember State Polytechnic. Production data obtained from 192 laying quails were subsequently converted to a commercial farming scale of 2,000 quails for one year for economic analysis purposes. This study employed a quantitative approach using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and three replications, with each replication containing 16 laying quails. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). When significant differences were detected (P<0.05), Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was applied. The treatments consisted of P0 (0% okra fruit flour), P1 (1% okra fruit flour), P2 (2% okra fruit flour), and P3 (3% okra fruit flour). The parameters observed included production cost, revenue, income, Break Even Point (BEP), Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC), R/C Ratio, and B/C Ratio. The ANOVA results showed that the inclusion of okra fruit flour up to 3% in the diet had no significant effect (P>0.05) on egg production, revenue, income, Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC), Break Even Point (BEP), R/C Ratio, and B/C Ratio. However, it had a significant effect (P<0.05) on production cost. Based on the economic analysis conducted at a commercial scale of 2,000 laying quails per year, all treatments were financially feasible, as indicated by an R/C Ratio greater than 1 and a B/C Ratio greater than 0.
