Abstract

One of several ways to maintain package temperature is by filler media which is able to maintain temperatue package such as straw and sawdust filler media. This research is aimed to determine the effect of straw and sawdust filler media on tilapia dry save system. This research was implemented in Polytechnic of Jember for 2 days, exactly in january 14th to 15th 2015. Factorial complete randomized design was used consisted on two factors. First factor is straw filler media (A1) and sawdust filler media (A2) and the second one is save time which consisted of 2 hours (B1), 4 hours (B2), 6 hours (B3), and 8 hours (B4) so that it was obtained several combinations were save time of straw filler media for 2 hours (A1B1), 4 hours (A1B), 6 hours (A1B3) and 8 hours (A1B4). Whereas sawdust filler media combinations were 2 hour (A2B1), 4 hours (A2B2), 6 hours (A2B3), and 8 hours (A2B4). Each treatment had 3 times replication. The result showed that there was no interaction between filler media variety and tilapia save time on survival rate.
