Abstract

Nutrition in children aged 1 - 4 years a factor to consider in maintaining health, because at this time is a vulnerable period of nutrition and the determination of the future success. Malnutrition starts from ideal weight loss of a child until it looks very bad. Nutrition status in Indonesia itself is still in the spotlight. There is a significant positive relationship between the level of nutrition knowledge of mothers with infant nutritional status, the knowledge of good maternal nutrition, the nutritional status of children is getting better. Knowledge needed a mother in the care of children, in terms of administration and provision of food, so that a child does not suffer from malnutrition. Nutritional deficiencies can also be caused due to the selection of food that is not true (Handono Priyo Nugroho, 2010). This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of mothers with diet and nutritional status of children aged 1-4 years in the clinic Tembokrejo Banyuwangi. This study uses a quantitative analytical approach with case control study design. This study was conducted on 15 August to 30 September 2016 Tembokrejo health center. Retrieving data using questionnaires given by researchers to the respondent. The researchers involved 121 respondents. Based on bivariate analysis which have been tested by chi�square statistic on correlation test which have an effect on to mother's knowledge level with toddler age 1 - 4 years old that is found on animal food side food with p value 0,01, food interlude with p velue 0,01 And milk with p value 0.04. In the correlation test between the knowledge level of mother with the nutritional status of children aged 1 - 4 years obtained p = 0,000 indicating a relationship between the level of knowledge of the mother with the nutritional status of children aged 1- 4 years.
