Abstract
Food waste is the amount of food that is not eaten by patients served by the hospital. Food waste is said to be high or if the patient leaves a lot of leftover food is more than 20%. Food waste is influenced by internal and external factors. One of the internal factors that influence is psychological condition. Psychological conditions such as feelings of depression, loss of interest, reduced physical activity and the massive changes in appetite can affect whether or not run out of food given from the hospital. The purpose of this study was to determine differences in the psychological condition and food waste on patient in Interna and Obgyn wards at Dr. Haryato Lumajang’s hospital. This research used analytic survey with cross sectional design with quota sampling technique and subject obtained 22 respondents from each ward. The instrument used was a HADS form and Comstock form. Analysis using Man Whitney test was concluded that there are differences in the psychological condition among hospitalized patients in interna and obgyn wards (p= 0.001) and the difference of food waste among hospitalized patients in internal and obgyn wards (p= 0.001).
