Abstract

URI (upper respiratory tract infection) is known as the entry of disease at respiration channel which is causing an infection. URI becomes the main cause of early death within toddlers under 5 years old. From the data of local clinic, it is reported that most of people especially toddlers has been suffering because of URI. In 2015, there are approximately 416 toddlers suffered from URI. This research is using survey analytic as the research method and is using cross sectional approach. This research is done under the surveillance of Megaluh local clinic. The populations included in the research are both URIinfected toddlers and the healthy ones. Simple Random Sampling was used as the sampling technique with 102 as the amount of the sample. Instrument within this research are in the form of medical record data, semi quantitative food frequency form, and weight measurement. The result is testified with chi square test using SPSS verse 23.0 As the statistic test announced the result, it is known that there is a correlation between nutrient status with the occurrence of URI within toddlers under the p-value 0,018, and it is also found that there is relation between the supply of vitamin A with the occurrence of URI within toddlers under the p-value 0,000 as the significance level up to the 10% or 0,1.
