Abstract

The elderly is the final stage of life and is a natural process that cannot be avoided by every individual. The elderly divided into several age groups based on grouping which are: middle age (45-59), elderly age group (60-74) and old age group (75-90). The problems that often suffered by the elderly are malnutrition and excess nutrition. The factors that may affect pre-elderly nutritional status including economic limitation, chronic illness, tooth loss, psychological influences, dietary errors, lack of knowledge about nutrition and the way to process it, along with decreasing of energy needs. The purpose of this study is to determine The Correlation of Income Level and Level of consumption with PreElderly Nutritional Status in Bucor Wetan Village, Probolinggo. This research was conducted on November 2016 – Desember 2016. The method of this research is an analytic survey with survey cross sectional as its approach with population 279 people. The sample size in this research is 80 subjects using cluster random sampling technique. The independent variables are income level and dietary habit, with nutritional status as the dependent variable. Statistical analysis of this research is using SPSS 16.0 for Windows with Spearman correlation test. The result shows that there is a direct correlation between income level with nutritional status with p value = 0,022 and r = 0,256, there is direct correlation between Level of consumption with nutritional status with p = 0,023 and r = 0,254. The conclusion of this research is there is correlation of income level and Level of consumption with nutritional status.
