Abstract

Nutrition intake is a requirement of children who play a role in the process of growth and development, especially in brain development. The ability of children to be able to develop motor neuron ability is through the provision of balanced nutritional intake. Provision of balanced nutritional intake is very instrumental in the growth of children from the fetus in the womb, toddlers, school-age children, adolescents even to adults (Zaviera, 2008). This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal employment status with parenting, nutritional intake level and nutritional status of children aged 3-5 know in Tegal Besar Village Kaliwates District Jember District. This research use analytical survey method with cross sectional study design. This research was conducted on 09-16 December 2016 in 10 kindergartens in Tegal Besar Village, Kaliwates Subdistrict, Jember District. The data were collected using questionnaires interview conducted by the researcher to the respondent and weighing scales to weigh the child's weight. The study involved 73 respondents. Based on bivariate analysis that have been tested statistic Chi Square, Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Somers'd, there is relation between mother's work status with parenting pattern obtained p value = 0,03, with value r = 0,37 show low correlation (direct relationship). There is relationship between maternal job status with nutrient intake level obtained p value = 0,02, with value of r = -0,27 show low correlation (inverse relationship). There is correlation between mother work status with child nutritional status obtained p value = 0,01 which shows, with value r = -0,32 show low correlation (inverse relationship). There is no correlation between parenting pattern with child nutritional status obtained p value = 0,70, with value of r = 0,03 indicating very weak (direct relationship). There is relationship between feeding pattern with child nutritional status obtained p value = 0,00 which shows, with value r = 0,63 show strong correlation (direct relation).
