Abstract

This final project entitles “Making a Visual Bilingual Android Based Dictionary for Hotel Accommodation Students of SMK 2 Bondowoso”. This project was made due to the needs of Hotel Accommodation Department in SMK 2 Bondowoso. They need instructional medium in digital form to help the teaching and learning process. In addition, the students need to study English for Hotel Accommodation because the hotel terms are mostly in English. It is also needed when the hotel accommodation students practice in star hotels. To complete the final project, the writer used Instructional Design Model or known as ADDIE. In Analyze phase, the writer analyzed the curriculum and Hotel Accommodation books. The writer designed the dictionary’s concept in design phase. The writer developed the material, the application and the .apk file in develop phase. Then, the writer implemented the application to students of Hotel Accommodation. The last was validation, which was evaluated by 3 validators; material expert, media expert, and user validator. As the result, the application consists of two main parts, namely Front Office and Housekeeping. Both Front Office and Housekeeping contain list of terms and then the detail of each terms. The detail is completed with picture of the terms, the phonetic transcription, the definition in English and Indonesia. Additionally, there are 2 more parts. They are bibliography and copyright. Bibliography contains list of picture sources. Meanwhile, copyright contains the writer’s college, the writer’s name and the writer’s lecture name. In making the product, the writer faced difficulties such as, some of front office terms could not be visualized and the writer did not know all the hotel terms. Therefore, the writer relied on the copies of textbook which were given by the hotel accommodation teacher and internet sources to translate the definition.
