Abstract
Background: Implementation of food in hospitals is a series of activities starting from the adoption of legislation feeding or diet hospital, to the distribution of food to the patients. Patients' assessment to the quality of food in hospitals was considered unsatisfactory, may have an impact on low satisfaction results in the rest of the food provided. Leftover food reflects inadequate nutrient intake or decrease malnutrition affecting the nutritional status of patients and can affect the patients' length of stay longer. Objective: To identify the relation plate waste patients on the nutritional status and length of stay in Mawar room and Seruni room class III RSD dr. Soebandi Jember. Methods: The study analytic survey with Cohort approach. The subjects of this study were patients treated in Mawar and Seruni room class III RSD dr. Soebandi Jember in January 2016. Data plate waste measured by the method Comstock, nutritional status data obtained from anthropometric measurements and the old data obtained from the medical records of patients. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate. Results: Based on univariat on plate waste and lenght of stay the results same namely 7 respondent to a many categori with lenght of stay and 7 respondent fewer categori with not lenght of stay. The statistical analysis showed that there is a significant relationship between the plate waste and nutritional status (p <0.05). There is not significant relationship between the plate waste and lenght of stay (p> 0.05). Conclusion: There is a relationship between the plate waste and nutrition status, while and the plate waste and lenght of stay is not correlation (p> 0.05).
