Abstract

Long bean (Vigna sinensis L.) is a vegetable from the legume family (Leguminosae) that is widely cultivated in various countries and has the potential to become a crucial commodity in fulfilling food sustainability. Unfortunately, long bean production is unstable and tends to fluctuate yearly. Liquid organic fertilizer treatment and pruning are two ways that can spur plant physiological processes. This study aims to identify the interaction between shoot pruning and Herbafarm organic liquid fertilizer application to increase the production and quality of long bean seeds. The research was conducted from September to December 2023 in Tegal Gede, Jember. The experimental design applied was a Factorial Randomized Group Design with two factors, the first factor was shoot pruning, which consisted of 2 weeks after planting (P1), three weeks after planting (P2), and four weeks after planting (P3). The second factor was Herbafarm organic liquid fertilizer application, which consists of 10 ml/liter of water (H1), 15 ml/liter of water (H2), and 20 ml/liter of water (H3). The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA and continued with the DMRT test at a 5% level. The results showed that the interaction between shot pruning 4 WAP and organic liquid fertilizer Herbafarm 20 ml/liter (P3H3) had a significant consequence on productive branch numbers (8.61 branches), pods per plant numbers (27.61 pods), seed weight per plant (353.00 grams), seed weight per plot (2408.41 grams), and seed production per hectare (4429262.73 kg/ha).
