Abstract

This study aims to determine the potential of two prospective hybrid varieties of Blewah (Cucumis melo L. var. Cantalupensis) by comparing them with the two comparison varieties. Aditya Sentana Agro, Jl. Sarikerto, Jumput, Kec. Karang Ploso, Malang Regency, East Java. The study used a non-factorial Randomized Block Design with two candidate hybrid varieties of cantaloupe and two comparison hybrid varieties. The factors are BL 1380, BL 1381, Blaster and Bhishma. The data that has been obtained from the research results are then tested for analysis of variance (Anova) with the Non-Factorial RCBD method. If there are results that are significantly different or very real, then a further test is carried out using the Honestly Significant Difference test with a level of 5%. The results of the analysis were carried out with several parameters used, namely fruit diameter, fruit length, flesh thickness, sweetness level, flowering age, harvest age, weight per fruit, fruit weight per plant, and number of fruit per plant. There are no prospective hybrid varieties that can compete with the yield of the Blaster variety which has a fruit diameter of 17.19 cm, fruit length 17.99 cm, flesh thickness 2.03 cm, fruit weight 704.59 g, fruit weight per plant 1725 , 32 gr, the number of fruit planted 2, and the fruit production was 55.67 tons/ha. However, the prospective hybrid varieties BL 1380 and BL 1381 have yields in the parameters of sweetness level, flowering age, and harvest age which are almost the same as the two comparison varieties, thus showing no significant difference.
