Abstract

Exclusive breastmilk is one of healthy behavior in society. Exclusive breastmilk is feeding the baby with only breastmilk since born until age sixth month without supply any other food. The coverage of exclusive breastmilk in Indonesia is still below, including district Jember wich is 66,37%.This study aims to determine the relationship of characteristics mother and reinforching factors the success of exclusive breastfeeding. The collecting data methode used by questionnaire interview. Respondents were 81 mothers who have been using Consecutive sampling. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis, Chi-square test (X2) using a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05), when p <0.05 then the variable is declared significant relationship while p> 0.05 do not meaningful and Multiple Logistic Regression analysis. Descriptive analysis results obtained Exclusive breastfeeding mothers and mothers 43 respondents who did not give exclusive breastfeeding were 38 respondents. In the Chi-square test there is a relationship between maternal employment (p = 0.005), socioeconomic (p = 0.035) and the support of health care workers (p = 0.018) on the success of exclusive breastfeeding. While the results of the analysis of Multiple Logistic Regression with OR (odds ratio) 4.764 show the variable employment that mothers who do not work on exclusive breastfeeding 4.764 times compared with mothers who work variable and Socioeconomic with OR (odds ratio) 5.134 showed that mothers with high Socioeconomic more likely to exclusive breastfeeding 5.134 times compared to women with low social economy.
