Abstract

The bidara plant (Ziziphus mauritiana) is a type of small fruit-producing tree that grows in dry areas. Bidara leaves contain active compounds such as flavonoids, saponins and tannins that can act as antibacterial and antioxidant ingredients in poultry. This study aims to determine the effect of adding bidara leaf powder in feed on broiler performance. This research was carried out from December 09, 2021 to January 19, 2022, at pens of the Jember State Polytechnic. 200 of DOC with the Cobb strain from PT. Prime Patriots. Chickens were reared from 1 to 35 days . The research design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The concentration of the addition of bidara leaf powder in 1 kg of feed was P0: 0% (Control), P1: 1%, P2: 2%, P3: 3%, and P4: 4%. Giving bidara leaf flour treatment started from the age of 1 day. Parameters observed were feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion, and mortality. The results showed that the treatment of bidara leaf meal at P4 had a significant effect (P<0.05) on weight gain, but did not have a significant effect (P>0.05) on feed consumption, feed conversion, and broiler mortality. This research can be concluded that the addition of bidara leaf powder in the feed has a significant effect on the weight gain of broilers with the best dose threshold in the P3 treatment which is 1817.17 gr.
