Abstract
Hypercholesterolemia is a degenerative disease that one of the main causes of diseases of the heart and blood vessels, which conditions the levels of cholesterol in the blood increases above normal limits. One alternative that can reduce levels of total cholesterol in the blood is a food that has a high content of anthocyanins, namely juice tape purple sweet potato. To know the effect of the juice of tape purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) to changes in total cholesterol levels in white rats (Rattus Novergicus L.) Galur Wistar Hypercholesterolemia. This type of research is true experimental pretest-posttest with control group design. This study uses 24 tail of the male rats strain wistar with a body weight of 150-200 grams aged 2-3 months. The rats were divided into 2 groups the control and 2 treatment groups given the juice of tape purple sweet potato with a dose of 1 2.0 ml/200gBB/ day and the dose of 2 to 4.0 ml/200gBB/day. Total cholesterol levels are checked by the method of CHOD-PAP. The Data were analyzed with Paired T-test, continued test of One-Way Anova and followed by the Wilcoxon test. Juice tape purple sweet potato influence significantly lower levels of total cholesterol wistar rats in the treatment group 1 (P1) and treatment group 2 (P2) (p=0,043).
