Abstract
Joper chicken is a cross between native chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) and laying hens (layers). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding fermented palm kernel meal to feed on the quality of Joper chicken carcasses (Jowo Super). The stages of this study include processing palm kernel meal, making local microorganisms (MOL), making fermented BIS, preparing cages, formulating rations, making feed, maintaining, and collecting data. The method used in this study was experimental and a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments with 4 replications each. Each replication consisted of 10 Joper chickens. The data obtained in this study were analyzed using analysis of variance Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at a significance level of 5%. If it shows different or significant results, further testing was carried out using the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that the addition of fermented palm kernel meal to the feed had a significant effect (P<0.05) on carcass percentage and did not provide significant results (P>0.05) on live weight and carcass weight. The conclusion of this study is that the provision of fermented PKS at 20% increased carcass percentage and tended to produce optimal live weight and carcass weight compared to other treatments.
