Abstract

The high cost of feed reaching 70-80% of the total production cost is the main challenge in cultivating Joper (Jowo Super) chickens. This study aims to provide the effect of the level of provision of fermented palm kernel meal (PKM) using sheep rumen fluid on the performance of Joper (Jowo Super) chickens. The study was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of five treatments, namely: P0 (control without PKM), P1 (10% PKM), P2 (10% fermented PKM), P3 (20% fermented PKM), and P4 (30% fermented PKM), each with four replications and ten chickens per replication. The parameters observed included feed consumption, body weight gain (BWG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and income over feed cost (IOFC). The results showed that the fermented PIC treatment had a significant effect (P <0.05) on feed consumption and FCR, but had no significant effect on PIC and IOFC (P>0.05). The best treatment was obtained at P2 (10% fermented PKM). The use of fermented BIS up to 10% in Joper chicken feed provides optimal performance and efficiency of Joper chicken feed.
