Abstract
Anemia is a condition when the hemoglobin level in the blood is lower than the normal value (≤ 12 g/dl). Non-pharmacological prevention of anemia includes consuming foods containing iron and vitamin C, such as red dragon fruit and red watermelon. This study aims to determine the effect of giving red dragon fruit juice and red watermelon juice on hemoglobin levels in female students of Madrasah Aliyah. The study was conducted in January 2026 at Madrasah Aliyah Pesantren Putri Al-Mawaddah, Ponorogo, East Java. The research design used was Quasi-Experimental with a Pretest-Posttest With Control Group design. The subjects in this case numbered 36, split into treatment and control groups. Data analysis used the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Independent test, and Paired sample test. The pretest data test results showed no difference (p=0.744). The posttest data test results showed a difference between groups (p=0.021). The difference test between pretest and posttest showed a significant difference, with the treatment group being higher (p=0.000). The difference test showed a significant difference in hemoglobin levels pretest-posttest between groups (p=0.007). This case shows that there is an effect of giving red dragon fruit juice and red watermelon juice, namely an increase in hemoglobin levels from 10.8 g/dl to 13.5 g/dl after administration for 14 days.
