Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure is systolic blood pressure of 140 mmHg or more and diastolic blood pressure of 90 mmHg or more.One alternative that can reduce hypertension is a food that contains potassium that is tuber bit essence.The content of Potassium has been absorbed the body and pumped from the extracellular fluid into cell that can increase sodium excretion, until reduce of blood pressure. Tuber bit (Beta vulgaris L) is contains 562 mg of potassium per 100 grams.The purpose of study was to analyze the influence of tuber bit essence on blood pressure hypertension of galur wistar rat. The type of research is a trueexperimental with pretest - posttest control group design.This research used 25 galur Wistar male rats weighing between 100-200 grams were aged 2 -3 months. The Rats divided into two groups of control and 3 treatment groups were given a dose of tubers bit essence, the first dose 2.40 ml/day; the second dose of 4.28 ml /day; and the third dose of 6.00 ml/day. The treatment was given for 14 days.The treatment of hypertension induced by 2% NaCl solution and 1.5 mg prednisone/ KgBW for 7 days. Measurement of blood pressure by tail cuff method using a Blood Pressure Recorder.Data analyzed used Paired T-Test and One Way Anova continued test of Duncan as well Kruskal- Wallis test followed Mann Whitney test.The significantly influence of tubers bit essence reduce systolic blood pressure (TDS) and diastole blood pressure (TDD) wistar rats at dose of the first treatment (TDS p = 0.001; p <α, TDD p = 0.000; p <α), the dose second treatment ( TDS p = 0.001; p <α, TDD p = 0.001; p <α) and dose of third treatment (TDS p = 0.002; p <α, TDD p = 0.002; p <α).
