Abstract
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a disease characterized by the occurrence of hyperglycemia and impaired metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins associated with absolute or relative deficiencies of work and / or insulin secretion. Someone is said to suffer from DM if there are typical complaints (polyura, polydipsia, polyphagia) and the results of a blood sugar test for several times at different times obtained value of ≥ 200 mg / dl. Diagnosis is also enforced when fasting blood glucose examination for several times at different times ≥ 126 mg / dl. One way to help decrease fasting blood glucose levels is to consume white dragon fruit juice because the flavonoids contained in white dragon fruit can reduce fasting blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving white dragon fruit juice to changes in fasting blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Besuk Health Center in Probolinggo Regency. This research is a quasi experimental research with Non randomized control group pretest postest design approach. Data analysis in this research using test of normality of shapiro-wilk result of data not normally distributed then continued with transformation of data to normalize data then use test of Independent T test and Paired T test. The total study subjects were 40 people, with 20 subjects in the control group and 20 subjects in the treatment group. The results showed no differences in fasting blood glucose levels between groups before (pre test) (p = 0.237) and there were differences in fasting blood glucose levels in the group after (post test) (p = 0.0000). There were differences of fasting blood glucose level before (pre test) and after (post test) in control group (p = 0,000) and treatment group (p = 0,0000). There is a difference in the difference in fasting blood glucose levels between the two groups (p = 0.0000).
