Abstract

SUMMARY Translating The Reaserch Article On Website Of Institute For Reaserch Empowerment (IRE)Yogyakarta. Liya Nurhartanti. F3111340.18 page. Language, Communication and Tourism Department, State Polytechnic of Jember. Institute for Research and Empowerment (IRE) Yogyakarta is an international Non-Government Organization (NGO) that engaged in social politics. In addition, as an International NGO, IRE has a website in the form of two languages that are Indonesian and English. In the English IRE's website, there are several menus that have not been filled with research abstract in English yet. IRE needs a translator to translate research the article into English version. During the New era, IRE wants to be a Think Tank company that has a mission to research, motivate, educate, create, consult and coach to solve the tough test social problems. It is the reason why I am as the student of English Department could apply our knowledge an skills got during studying in English Study Program (translation) that we got from second until fifth semester, writing and structure from first semester until the last semester in the work place. When I conducted this report I focused my activities in translating the abstract of research. I translated 4 (four) abstracts of research in the IRE website. Here, they were 4 (four) research articles that I had already translated. They were: (1) The residents collective action to go out from poverty (2) Awakening Integrated Health Service (IHC) for Poverty Reduction, (3) Bureaucratic Reform Needs Knowledge Management, (4) Woman, Natural Disaster and Treat Reduction in Yogyakarta. My other activities are helps the staff to handle launched books, the used of new application for smart phone that has function to get information from participant about function of village legislation and reply the letter from auditor from UN habitat. My working schedule was at 09.00 a.m. to 05.00 p.m. started to joint with IRE 10 February to 10 April 2014. I worked on weekday and had holiday on weekend and national holidays. I worked from Monday – Friday and I had free day on Saturday, Sunday, and national holidays. Some problem I faced were about vocabulary and grammar I could over come the problem by asking to the staffs and used dictionaries such as Macmillan and thesaurus to took for meaning of difficult work. During I did the activities, I concluded that by conducting the internship program at Institute for Research and Empowerment (IRE) Yogyakarta I had to apply my translation, writing, structure, reading and other subject that I got . Here, I found new vocabularies about politics that I did not know before. I also learned a lot about responsibility and knowledge in the workplace. So, I could apply my knowledge that already given from English Study Program such as English component that are vocabulary and structure, then main skills that students achieved in English Study program were Reading, and Writing. Finally, I could solve my problems that I faced in the work place.
