Abstract

damame (Glycine max L. Merrill) is a vital commodity in Jember, yet its cultivation often suffers from excessive inorganic fertilization. This study investigated sugarcane filter cake compost (blotong) and Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) as eco-friendly alternatives. Using a Factorial Randomized Block Design, the research tested various compost dosages (0–150 g/plant) and PGPR concentrations (0–20 ml/l). Observation parameters included vegetative and generative variables, which were analyzed using ANOVA at a 5% significance level, followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The findings revealed that sugarcane filter cake compost independently boosted vegetative growth including plant height and stem diameter with an optimal range of 50 and 100 g/plant. Simultaneously, PGPR acted as an effective biostimulant, significantly enhancing root development and shoot fresh weight at 10–20 ml/l. The results showed that sugarcane filter cake compost significantly enhanced edamame vegetative growth, with optimal dosages at 50 g/plant and 100 g/plant. Meanwhile, 10–20 ml/l PGPR effectively stimulated root development and shoot fresh weight. A significant synergy occurred between both treatments, optimizing yield components including pod number, filled/empty pod weight, and shoot/root fresh weights. Ultimately, the treatment combination 100 g compost and 10 ml/l PGP was the best treatment, consistently maximizing productive branches, pod count, and filled pod weight, while minimizing empty pods.
