Abstract

The development of information technology, especially in the field of computer networks, allows the exchange of information to be faster and more complex and the data exchanged can vary. Internet users and wireless internet network providers, allow access to anything including websites from wherever they want, which causes information security issues to become important. The process of tapping information (Sniffing) on computer networks is becoming increasingly common, both for positive and negative uses. This study provides an overview of the security of the E-learning JTI website against the sniffing process on a wireless network, as well as an overview of the possible attack methods that can occur on the E-learning JTI website. This research also provides solutions to internet users and web developers to prevent attacks from discovered vulnerabilities. In this study, two stages were carried out, the first was to identify the security level of the E-learning JTI website using the Wireshark application and the second was to compare the security level of the E-learning JTI website with a Google Account to find out the weaknesses. The results of this study are packet sniffing attacks on the E-learning JTI website, can record and display sensitive information such as usernames and passwords using the Wireshark application. In addition, the E-learning JTI website is vulnerable to MITM (man in the middle) attacks, because it does not use an SSL certificate.
