Abstract
Returning inpatient medical record files at the hospital has a maximum return of 2 x 24 hours. If the inpatient medical record file is returned more than 2 x 24 hours, it can hamper assembling, indexing and coding, and reporting, as well as insurance claims. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors causing delays in inpatient medical record files at the hospital. This study used the literature review method and found 15 journals and 5 theses that match the specified inclusion criteria. The results of the analysis of 20 articles found that the main factors that caused doctors to be less disciplined in filling out medical records, the absence of monitoring and supervision could cause a 6.483 times greater delay in returning DRM (OR = 6.483). In addition, the delay was also caused by the absence of tools, and no motivation from the officers. Based on these factors, the hospital should be able to evaluate or monitor the delay in filling out medical record files on a regular basis, and provide supporting facilities to support the return of inpatient medical record files, and provide motivation to all officers related to returning inpatient medical record files.
