Abstract

The effort to increase the viability and vigor of deteriorated melon seed is by matriconditioning and osmoconditioning. This research aims to determine the combination of matriconditioning materials and osmoconditioning on icreasing of melon seed. This research was conducted at CV. Multi Global Agroindo Karanganyar in October 2018 until November 2018. This research was applied Completely Randomized Design with 2 factors. The first factor was matriconditioning materials with 3 levels, there were sawdust (M1), Cocopeat (M2) and husk charcoal (M3). The second factor was osmoconditioning materials with 3 levels there were aquadest (O1), coconut water 50% (O2) and Trichoderma solution 50% (O3). The result of this research shows that matriconditioning and osmoconditioning are significant on all parameters. The interaction between matriconditioning and osmoconditioning is siginificant for increasing viability and vigor of melon seed. Combination between cocopeat and Trichoderma solution 50% giving the highest increase from the preliminary test, while the combination of coopeat and coconut water 50% gives a decrease in viability and vigor compared to the preliminary test.
