Abstract
Casting is a metal melting process then poured into a cast until it become solid, So that it can formed into an object based on the model or design of the cast. The correct usage of cast types can increase production result, either from the quality or quantity. The casting result quality affected by the casting method, one of the most used method is sand casting. Nowadays, beach sand are not utilized very well, this can gain loss in the side of economy, because there are a lot of beach sand, but not utilized yet. Hopefully, the usage of beach side can decrease the value of porosity in the aluminium casting. In this research, beach sand used as the material of wet sand casting mixed with bentonite. In the process of beach sand and bentonite mixing, used mixture comparison 92 % : 8 %, 90 % : 10 %, 88% : 12%. From beach sand and bentonite variation obtained the lowest porosity value is 90% : 10% with average porosity values is 28,453%. Using actual density calculation and porosity percentage. Reviewed from the result of micro structure observation test, occur many differentiate to the image result. The best result of micro structure test is in the 90 % : 10 % beach sand comparison, seen few lines from the image that indicate porosity exist to the observation speciment.
