Abstract

English is one of the international languages that is used as an official language by the United Nation and many international organizations. There are 53 countries and 10 international organizations that use English as the official language. It shows that English becomes the communication tool that used in many fields such as health, economics, business, and education. In the educational field, there is a lot of important information that is only provided in English but, not all people can understand English well because they do not use English in their daily life. Translation is one of solutions to solve this problem. Based on the interview with Mr. Suluh Nusantoro, the lecturer in Animal Husbandry Department, this final project aimed to translate an English book entitled Quality Assurance for Animal Feed Analysis Laboratories Published by Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nation. This project focuses on Page 148 until 162. The result of this final project will help the students and lecturer in understanding this book easily and it will be useful for them during the teaching learning activity. To finish this project the writer used the translation process by Bathgate (1981) that consists of seven phases include tuning, analysis, understanding, terminology, restructuring, checking, and discussion. The writer translated the content of the text in the plain prose and without any redundancy to get an understandable result of translation since the source text is an informative text. This book contain the information about how to set up a good quality laboratory system, how to use the instruments in the laboratory, also the analysis held in a laboratories. As the result, the writer got new knowledge and new vocabularies related to Animal Husbandry field. Then, the writer conclude that conducting a translation project is really beneficial for herself and for the textbook user. By finishing this project, the writer could apply some skills that have been learned in the class include reading, writing, and translating skill. The writer believed that finishing this project gave her a lot of knowledge that will be beneficial for her future. Further, the result of this final project will be helpful for the book user in understanding the book. Moreover, by finishing this final project the writer have some suggestions for the students and lecturer of Animal Husbandry Department, for the students of English Study Program, also for the English Study Program itself. For the students and lecturer of Animal Husbandry Department, they can used the result of this project in their lecturing and practicum class. For the students of English Study Program, they can choose translation as their final project. And for the English Study Program itself, please provide many references such as books, journals, or any articles for the student in the reading corner so that the students could learn and get the sufficient knowledge to support them in finishing their Final Project.
