Abstract

Tourism industry has becoming one of important sectors of Indonesia’s income. Those, government need to develop tourism objects to enlarge not only its popularity but also national income. One of tourism objects in Indonesia is National Park. There are fifty national parks in Indonesia, one of them which is developing is Alas Purwo National Park. Alas Purwo National Park is a national park that has beautiful tourism object such as beach, savanna, caves, temples and mini waterfall. As a tourism object, Alas Purwo has promotional media to promote it so that people will come and enjoy their time in Alas Purwo National Park. Based on writer’s preliminary study, it has some types of promotional media such as booklet, website, and You Tube channel. Each promotional media provide information about Alas Purwo National Park. One of the promotional media which is video in You Tube channel entitled “ Pesona Jenggala di Ujung Timur Jawa” showed a very complete information about Alas Purwo National Park using bahasa Indonesia. And after conducting interview with the head of Balai Taman Nasional Alas Purwo, the writer got recommendation to do subtitling in the video in English version. Then, the writer approved the recommendation to took this project as her final project. To finish this final project, the writer used subtitling strategies by Gottlieb’s theory (1992) in Ghaemi and Benyamin (2010) they were expansion, paraphrase, transfer, imitation, transcription, dislocation, condensation, decimation, deletion and resignation to translate the original script which is in Bahasa Indonesia version as the source language into English version as the target language. The writer also used process of subtitling by Jones (2017) they were spotting, translation, editing and checking to do the subtitling process. In this final project, the writer used Wondershare Filmora application to input the subtitle in video. After finishing the product, the writer did consultation with her supervisor to get comments and suggestion to make her product better. Than the writer revise her product based on supervisor corrections. After revising the product and supervisor did not give any other comments, the writer burnt the video in CDROM with the title “Subtitling the Available Video of Alas Purwo National Park Banyuwangi”and gave it to Balai Taman Nasional Alas Purwo.
