Abstract
This research was conducted with the aim to determine the effect of varieties and storage condition of rice seeds (Oryza sativa L.) on viability, vigor and electrical conductivity of seeds. This research was conducted for 4 months, from September to December 2018 at the Central Rice Research Center in Sukamandi Village, Ciasem Sub-District, Subang Regency. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (RBD) with 2 factors and 3 replications. The first factor is a variety (V), with the varieties used, are Ciherang (V1), Inpari 33 (V2), Inpago 9 (V3), Mekongga (V4), and PB 42 (V5). The second factor is storage condition (S), 8 months in temperature controlled condition 18 – 20oC and 17 months in cold storage (S1), 7 months in temperature controlled condition 18 – 20oC and 6 months in cold storage (S2) and 1 month in temperature controlled condition 18 – 20oC (S3). The results showed that the variety factor (V), storage condition factor (S) and interaction of varieties and storage condition (S*V) gave very significant results on all parameters except radicle parameters emergence on factor S showed no significant difference and speed parameters growing on the interaction of the two factors showed a significant difference. Variety of Mekongga with 7 months in temperature controlled condition 18 – 20oC and 6 months in cold storage (V4S2) gave the best results with highest percentage on viability and growth speed of 98.17% dan 16.54% and give results that do not differ greatly from the highest value in the other parameters. While the electrical conductivity parameters has not shown the best value but the highest value in treatment V4S2 with result 10.11 µmhos/cm/g.
