Abstract

Said Horticulture (Horticulture) comes from the Latin 'Hortus' which means garden and 'Colere' which means to cultivate. So horticulture is cultivating plants in the garden. This differs from the Agronomy, which are raising crops in the field. Cultivation in the garden becoming more intensive, capital-intensive and labor. However, horticulture will be generating returns, whether in the form of economic gain or personal pleasure, which corresponds to the intensive effort. Horticultural practice is a tradition that has grown since a very long time. Horticulture is a blend of science, technology, art, and economics. Developing modern horticultural practices based on the development of science that produces technology for the manufacture and handling of horticultural commodities are intended to benefit the economy and personal pleasure. In practice, it can not be separated from art.
