Abstract

The production process of potato seeds (Solanum tuberosum L.) generally produced on the highlands (1,500-3,000 m above sea levels), but the possibility it could be produced in the medium (medland) with modifying of the cultivation technology. The purpose of the research is to get the potato seed production method in the medium (650 m above sea level), to determine the effect of interaction between the growth media compositions and planting materials. The method used of this research was Randomized Block Design consist of two factors and four replicates. The first factor was the planting materials, consists of mini cutting (S1) and micro tuber (S2). The second factorwas composition of growth media whichdivided into 3 compositions: A (charcoal husk: cocopeat: soil), B(charcoal husk: cocopeat: soil: worm manure), and C (charcoal husk: cocopeat: soil: chicken manure). The results showed thatthe life survive percentag of Granola was relatively high (79.16%). Interaction factor between the planting material and media compositions showed no significant effect. The significant effect occurs was only on a single factor, where on the growth (number of shoots, height of shoot or plant) of micro tuber planting material better than the growth of mini cuttings material. The composition of media C gave the best effect compared to the other media. The higher tuber production of G2 (the number of tubers, the weight tuber per sample and total production of tuber), obtained at the treatment of C media composition, followed bythe composition of B media and the lowest was composition of A media. The planting material of micro tuber provides the best G2 tuber production compared to the mini cuts.
