Abstract

This research was conducted to understand the interaction between the composition of the growing media and three varieties of sugarcane bud chips system. The research was conducted in state Polytechnic of Jember from January 2 nd- May 31th 2017. The experimental used was a randomized complete block design (RCBD) factorial consisting of two factors with three replications. The first factors is the composition of growing media (M) of M1 = soil : blotong (50% :50%), M2 = soil : blotong (30% : 70%), M3 = soil : blotong:sand (10% : 70% 20%) and M4 = blotong (100%). The second factors is sugarcane varieties (V) is V1 = Varieties of PS 881, V2 = Variety of PS 862 and V3 = Varieties of PS 864.The results analysis of variance significant and then further tested by using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) level of 5%. The results showed that treatment significantly growing media composition in fresh root weight. The treatment varieties real effected on plant height, stem diameter, number of tillers,root length, fresh root weight and dry root weight. The treatmens interaction effected on stem diameter, number of tillers, fresh root weight and dry root weight. While the amount of heavy wet leaves and stover showed no real effected of all treatments tested against the growth of sugarcane seedlings bud chips system.
