Abstract
Bitter melon is a horticultural plant that has been widely developed for seed needs. This research was carried out to determine the effect of pruning branches and fruit restiction per plant on the field and quality of bitter melon seeds (Momordica charantia L.). This research was carried out in August-December 2023, it was located on Tawangmangu street, West Krajan, Tegal Gede Village, Sumbersari Jember District. The experimental design used in this research was a Randomized Block Factorial Design which consisted of 2 factors for 3 times. The first factors are branch pruning (C), consisting of pruning up to branch 3 (C1), pruning up to branch 4 (C2), and pruning up to branch 5 (C3). The second factors are fruit restriction per plant (B), 3 fruit per plant (B1), 6 fruit per plant (B2), and 9 fruit per plant (B3). The data was analyzed by using ANOVA then carried out further tests using DMRT with a level of 5%. The research results showed that interaction of branch pruning treatment and fruit restriction per plant had a very significant influence on the germination parameter of 83% with the C3B3 treatment.
