Abstract

One effort to improve the production and quality of mung bean seeds can be done through the cultivation technique of topping the shoots and using superior varieties This research was conducted to determine the effect of shoot topping on the production and quality of mung bean (Vigna radiata L) Superior Varieties. This experiment was conducted from September2023 to Januari 2024 in Tegal Gede Village, Sumbersari District, Jember Regency, East Java. The experimental design used in this study is a Randomized complete Block Design (RBD) factorial consisting of two factors and repeated 3 times The first factor is shoot topping (P), consisting of 15 days after planting (P1), 20 days after planting (P2), and 25 days after planting (P3) The second factor is mung bean varieties (V), consisting of Vima-2 (V1), Vima-4 (V2), and Vima-5 (V3). The results obtained were then analyzed using the F test or the interaction topping treatment and green bean varieties which had a very significant effect on 2 observation parameters, namely flowering age and harvest age. The interaction of topping treatment and green bean varieties gave the best results at 36,33 and 56,33 days after planting. Key words: Mung beans, Topping shoots, Varieties, Seed production
