Abstract
Abstract One of the main factors causing the high rate of air pollution in Indonesia nowadays is the residual gas from the combustion of motorcycle. The air pollution caused by the residual gas from the combustion of motorcycle must be removed immediately considering that in the gas emissions there are many chemical compounds that are harmful to humans. The exhaust gas emissions contents that were tested include carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrocarbons (HC) and oxygen (O2). This research uses an experimental method which is observations were made on the effect of cooling treatment on motorcycle exhaust gas towards the gas emissions. The results of this study indicated that the best decreased of emission content of CO and CO₂ gases at idle rpm with the highest increased of O2 gas content, while in HC gas the best emission reduction occurred at 2000 rpm. The decreased of gas emission content of CO was 34.5%, CO2 was 19.8%, HC was 47.6%, and the highest increased of O2 gas emission content was 35%.
