Abstract

Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is a basic requirement for an industry, one of which is the tobacco product industry. Cigar company CV. Dwipa Nusantara Tobacco has not implemented GMP, this can affect the quality of the cigar products it produces. In order to produce a quality and good quality product, attention must be paid to raw materials, each stage of the process, labor and supporting facilities must run optimally. The aims of this study are (1) to analyze the design of GMP at the cigar factory in CV. Dwipa Nusantara Tobacco Jember. (2) To analyze the improvement of cigar product quality based on the GMP design at the Cigar Factory in CV. Dwipa Nusantara Tobacco Jember. The research method uses descriptive qualitative research with a population of CV. Dwipa Nusantara Tobacco and samples using business owners and experts. The results of the study using the GMP check list assessment showed that the cigar company CV. Dwipa Nusantara Tobacco is at level II which consists of I minor non-conformity elements and II major non-conformance elements. And as an effort to develop a cigar business on CV. Dwipa Nusantara Tobacco with recommendations for improvements related to GMP design, namely by fulfilling employee sanitation, conducting laboratory tests for nicotine levels and completing product information on cigar product packaging.
