Abstract

This is the report of the final project titled “Translating a Tourism Booklet Entitled “Booklet Wisata Kabupaten Jember: Explore The Beauty of Jember”. The purpose of translating the tourism booklet was to help the Tourism and Culture Department of Jember Regency in promoting Jember tourism to foreign tourists and provide bilingual information about Jember’s tourist destinations for foreign tourists. The writer translated this tourism booklet by using four steps of translation processes: analysis, transfer, restructure, and evaluation and revision. In the analysis step, the writer thoroughly read the booklet to understand its content and identified errors. In the transfer step, the writer converted the text into the target language. Then, the writer created the translation draft in the restructure step. In the last step, the final project was examined by the examiners and revised by the writer to achieve the best final result. Throughout the translation process, the writer faced challenges, especially during the analysis and restructure steps. However, the writer overcame these difficulties by studying more about Jember tourism through the internet, and by utilizing translation technologies. Aside from technology, the supervisor and proofreader helped the writer by reviewing and revising the errors in order to achieve a good translation result. The translation result was also verified for credibility by the Tourism and Culture Department of Jember Regency. The final result of the English-translated version of the tourism booklet was printed for submission to the English Study Program, while a PDF format was sent to the Tourism and Culture Department of Jember Regency to be printed and distributed to the foreign tourists.
