Abstract
Tobacco is one of the popular plants in the field of plantation crop cultivation, especially in Indonesia, the leaves of this plant are used as raw materials in the manufacture of cigarettes or cigars, tobacco has a fairly high economic value, tobacco leaves have good quality of course provide high economic value and to maintaining the quality of the leaves need to pay attention to care, one of which is to protect plants from armyworm pests which can reduce the quality of tobacco leaves. This study aims to determine the effect of papaya leaf filtrated on mortality of armyworm (Spodoptera litura) in tobacco plants. This research was carried out in January 2022 at the Jember State Polytechnic Plant Protection Laboratory. This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications (P1 0%, P2 5%, P3 25%, P4 50% and P5 75%). Further testing uses Tukey’s HSD Test (Honest Significant Different) with a level of 5%. The results of this study showed that the administration of papaya leaf extract was significantly different to the mortality of armyworms (Spodoptera litura) and the time of death of armyworms which were analyzed using LT50 (Lethal Time 50).
