Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is a condition of the occurrence of lipid metabolism abnormalities in the body characterized by increased levels of total cholesterol and Low Densitity Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol above normal levels and decreased levels of High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) below normal levels. Pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies can be done for the treatment of dyslipidemia, namely by giving statin drugs and a high-fiber diet. One of the high-fiber foods is a snack bar made from 90 grams of gembili flour and 10 grams of soy flour with a fiber content of 7.16%. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of giving snackbar gembili flour and soy flour on changes in hdl levels of white rats hiperkolesterolemia. This type of study is a True Experimental study with the Pretest- Posttest Control Group Design approach , using 18 mice as samples, the age of mice 2-3 months with a weight of 150-250 grams which is grouped into 3 groups namely negative control group, positive control group, and treatment group. The negative control group was fed standard rat bio. The positive control group was given high-fat feed of quail egg yolk and jelantah oil, PTU 0.01% as drinking water, as well as standard feed rat bio and treatment group was given high-fat feed in the form of quail egg yolk and jelantah oil, PTU 0.01% as drinking water, high fiber feed snackbar gembili flour and soybean flour, and standard feed rat bio. The results showed that there were differences in HDL levels before and after the intervention in the negative control group (p = 0.044), positive control (p = 0.027), and treatment (p = 0.032). So it can be concluded that there is an effect of giving snack bars gembili flour and soy flour to the HDL levels of white rats strain wistar hiperkolesterolemia, However, there is a discrepancy that HDL levels after intervention decreased.
