Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of adding Azolla pinnata and Spirulina platensis on the egg quality of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica). The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was employed, involving 3 treatments and 6 replicates. each experimental unit consisted of three quails. The treatments were: P0 = no addition of Azolla pinnata or Spirulina platensis (control), P1 = addition of 10% Azolla pinnata meal, and P2 = addition of 10% Azolla pinnata and 0.1% Spirulina platensis. The parameters observed included egg weight, yolk index, albumen index, and yolk color. The study was conducted from August to December 2024. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% significance level if significant differences were found. The results indicated that the addition of Azolla pinnata and Spirulina platensis had a significant effect (P<0.05) on yolk color but did not significantly affect (P>0.05) egg weight, albumen index, or yolk index. The study concludes that the addition of 10% Azolla pinnata and 0.1% Spirulina platensis significantly influences yolk color.
