Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of okra waste flour in feed on the physical quality of quail eggs at different cage temperatures. The study used 192 DOQ (Day Old Quail) with a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method consisting of two factors. The first factor is cage temperature, namely room temperature (A1) and heat stress temperature (A2). The second factor is feed, namely control (B0), feed with the addition of 1% okra waste flour (B1), 2% (B2), and 3% (B3). Each treatment was repeated three times with eight quails in each replication. The research data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and then continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) if there were significant differences. The parameters observed included egg weight, yolk index, egg white index, egg yolk color, and Haugh Unit (HU). The results showed that cage temperature and feed had no significant effect (P>0.05) on egg weight, yolk index, and egg white index. However, both had a significant effect (P<0.05) on egg yolk color separately. Room temperature produces a more intense yolk color than heat stress temperature, while the addition of 2% and 3% okra waste flour produces the highest yolk color. The cage temperature also significantly affects the Haugh unit value, with room temperature producing a higher value than heat stress temperature. The conclusion of this study is that the inclusion of okra waste meal in the diet at levels up to 3% and rearing at housing temperatures up to 31°C did not significantly affect the physical quality of quail eggs, with the exception of two parameters, yolk color, which was significantly influenced by both housing temperature and diet, and Haugh unit, which was significantly influenced by the diet. Furthermore, no interaction between diet and housing temperature was observed for any of the parameters studied.
