Abstract

The feed is one factor in the success of the farm, feed available must be guaranteed both in quality and quantity. Factors that determine the quality pellet with a pellet hardness know, the number of pellets were crushed and finely after manufacture pelleted feed. Pellet quality is influenced by the characteristics of the feed material, particle size, conditioning, measure the diameter of the mold pellets, and cooling after the process. This study aims to determine the effect of particle size on the physical quality of the feed pellet form. The experimental design used was completely randomized design with a treatment difference in particle size of the feed material. Feed ingredients used in the study include bran, corn kernels, and concentrate. treatment was done on the corn kernels are ground using diskmill with diskmill 2 mm screen size (treatment 1), 4 mm (treatment 2), and 6 mm (treatment 3). The composition of each feed in this study was 54% corn miller (1, 2, 3) + 14% + 32% bran concentrate. The results showed that the difference in the particle size of the feed material very significant effect on density, density pile feed, dab endurance (durability) pellets and can reduce the moisture content of feed, but has no effect on the density of compaction piles of feed and feed piles corner. Better results shown by treatment 1 in improving the quality of feed pellet form
